We start at 18:30, and end at 21:00
Want to know more about your origin?
Understand how you can gather information and knowledge about your family history and at the same time have a very educational and fun journey along the way? Then you are warmly welcome to Herresta Lada den
September 22, 2022 for an open inspiration evening about genealogy.
Herresta Lada will then be visited by two course leaders with long experience both of their own genealogy and of lecturing in various contexts around the country about the possibilities and challenges of research. Read more about them below.
“We often hear - not least now in pandemic times - that the work of searching for its roots engages both those who start genealogy and their own relatives. You also get new acquaintances in this both fun and meaningful hobby ", say the course leaders.
Today, there are already good opportunities for genealogy in Sweden compared with most other countries. This has now also been further expanded with the use of new DNA technology in the work. Even if you do not belong to the nobility in Sweden, you have great opportunities to go very far back in time in the search for your roots. In the search, for example, to get an insight into how a house interrogation could take place can be both an educational and exciting experience. Take the opportunity to interview your old relatives before it's too late.
During this inspiration evening, we address the following:
- What equipment you need
- What sources are available
- How to work wisely
- How to document and build your own family tree
- Common traps and pitfalls during the family journey
- Tips on books, links and interest groups
- What could be a good first step from here for myself now and going forward
- Space for questions
- Pleasant togetherness in a pleasant environment
Take the opportunity to be inspired by the area, ask questions to experts and meet other curious people - perhaps someone to get to know more and get support from during your further exploration. And why not bring a friend or relative with you!

Briefly about the lecturers
Mona Eckered has long been a dedicated genealogist, now also with elements of modern DNA technology. Genealogy research started with the family's handwritten family trees, which were created through memories and stories as well as visits to genealogy archives. Mona's genealogy research is now done completely digitally. She is also active as a supervisor and lecturer at SeniorNet Märsta-Sigtuna and SeniorNet at Distans, where they learn to use digital aids. Mona has previously worked in IT and Management for over 35 years, both as an employee and as a self-employed person.
And Winberg is technology manager at SeniorNet in Märsta-Sigtuna and holds ongoing courses in genealogy. He has extensive experience in reading church books online and in IT technical aspects. After trying many different programs, he started a group on Facebook for those who use the MyHeritage online genealogy program and related services. The group now has roughly 3,300 members who help each other with tips and advice. Kaj has previously worked 42 years in the IT industry. When he became a pensioner, he continued as his own entrepreneur helping the elderly with their computers, tablets and mobile phones.
